A Day in Rotorua (Part 1)

Travelling period: June 2015, I was 10 years old

We woke up to a very misty morning as fog blocked our view of the Great Lake Taupo. The fog was not as dark as pitch black. It could not block the sunlight going through. Daddy hurried to wear his jacket to capture the amazing and beautiful moment.DSC_1012 A Day in Rotorua (Part 1)_DSC6175 A Day in Rotorua (Part 1)

Before leaving our hotel towards our destination for the day, we went to the lake first to take family pictures while the fog still there.

Our day would be a completely exciting one! Hooray! We would be going to Rotorua! We would try a luge and visit some thermal plants. Although it was mommy’s plan, nothing always goes according to plan, sometimes. That was what happened to us later on.

We left Taupo in excitement. Our happiness faded away when fog covered the highway we took, the Thermal Explorer Highway. I thought this fog was even darker as it could prevent light from passing through. Even though there were a lot of challenges when driving at that moment, we mustered our courage and drove boldly towards our destination. And, we successfully did it.

We dropped by the city’s i-site center and asked one of the many tour guides for discounts and about their tourist attractions. We also asked about the luge’s ticket prices.

Well, we got both good news and bad news. The good news was that we were able to buy our beloved luge tickets with discounts. However, the bad news was that the geyser at Wai-o-Tapu eruptions were at 10.30 a.m. and have already taken place at that moment. We left the i-site center with sadness and dismay as one of the activities we planned to do here was striked out of our itinerary.
