Our day in the Hohenwerfen Castle

Travelling period: June 2014, I was 9 years old

When we arrived at Hohenwerfen Castle, we went to the funicular to check the tickets and options. While studying the prices, mommy saw a cheaper way. It was by walking. When she saw that we all decided to try that way. The view was really nice and the castle looks really medieval. The castle was built between 1075 and 1078 to secure the Salzburg archbishopric against the forces of King Henry IV.

After 20 minutes of hike uphill, we finally reached the tower. There, we went to the cashier to pay the admission fee in the castle. While mommy was paying the cashier, she gave mommy a puzzle for me to solve. We went around as stated, I found two questions to answer. I answered them and continued our journey. Soon, I found another few questions and answered them. We went inside a military museum to see what kind of weapons they have used in the past. Once we were done, I saw two other answers to two other questions. I answered those last two questions and did a few activities. I felt quite excited and I hoped I got all the answers correct. We left the castle and instead of walking, we took the funicular. Once we reached the exit, I showed the card puzzle to the funicular controller. When she saw it, she gave me a reward.

Once we arrived at our hotel, we ate dinner and I played phone before sleeping. Soon I went to my bedroom and slept. The next day I woke up and took a bath.
After I took a bath, we went to the breakfast hall to have a breakfast. While eating breakfast I realized there was a new guest. So while eating breakfast we greeted them a warm welcome. Soon, we were done. So we went back to our room and did a few touches. After that, we would be going to a castle and hoping we’d be having a good weather.

The next day in Zell Am See

Travelling period: June 2014, I was 9 years old

The next day, I woke up and took a bath before having breakfast. We went down and had breakfast. The hall where we had our breakfast was very small but with a wonderful view with Alps surrounding this small hotel and town. We enjoyed our breakfast and continued to talk about other stuff. My mother said that I could not play with my gadgets. The view was totally breathtaking at our seat! We saw the beautiful mountains beyond us and were happy when we realized the pitch blue sky. It seemed we saw nature in a front seat with its best! Mommy explained that using digital gadgets during meals was rather disrespectful. I also learnt that interacting with people is also by the book as eating etiquette.  While eating our good breakfast, the owner of the B&B talked about the places that are popular. And he also gave us a card that could allow us to get tickets for the cable car for free. After he told us about that, mommy asked why the owner did not tell us all about that when we checked in. We guessed that he was actually sleepy.

We went back to our room and did a few touches and left the room. We went to the information centre to get the tickets. It was only a few kilometers away. It was quite easy to find free parking. After getting the free tickets, we drove to somewhere to take cable car and went to higher land. The surrounding was very amazing and I saw the city below on a mountain with snow. I saw dogs, cows and many other animals. I was also surprised with the greenery around the hills that were part of this mountain. I felt very green as I walked around the mountain as it was like a nature wonderland. Everything was growing well within a glance and a proper look. There were also many cows and much more… Although few people were there, I guess the animals never felt lonely for some reason. At the mountains, we took pictures. We did not hike since we did not want to get tired. After few hours, we went back down to eat our lunch. They actually had a restaurant on the mountain but the hiking would take very long.

At the restaurant, the decor and surroundings were extremely nice. It also had a kid’s meal with free drinks. My mom and dad really enjoyed the food.  The surrounding was quite peaceful and I really enjoyed their scrumptious food. After we ate our lunch, we went to another cable car that went higher. I felt excited and I could see the whole neighborhood of Zell Am See and other wonderful sceneries…  We took another cable car which lead us even higher  to a peak called Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. But the cable car was open so I was a little bit scared.  At the peak, I rode sledges. It was my first experience and I enjoyed it really much. I really wished we could stay here for a little while more. After having great time, we left the mountains and played also at the playground there.

Our next activity was to ride a similar like a luge at Maisiflitzer Alpine Coaster. It was a super amazing activity. I tried it 3 times. I could see a lot of greenery with a wonderful view of everything. I had a whole lot of fun and I never felt tired for that period of time. I really enjoyed the rides. After my last ride, we went to the supermarket and went to ride a boat at Zell am See Lake. I felt quite relaxed and enjoyed the ride. The experience was fun and I saw many mountains. Daddy drove the boat for the first half of this heart-warming activity while I drove it in the other half. That was our last activity for the day and go back to the hotel.

Arriving in Zell Am See

Travelling period: June 2014, I was 9 years old

As the day started to get dark, I was surprised to learn it was already 8 o’clock. It was supposed to be night time already. We hurried as we wanted to have a lot of choices on where to eat.  Once we reached there, we checked-in and went to our room to rest for a while. We sat at the balcony for a while to enjoy the view. There were lots of flowers.

After resting, we brushed our teeth. While I was brushing, mommy and daddy realized that there were no shampoo and body soap. So after brushing our teeth, we went to our car and went around the town to find shops that were open. I also realized that the town was really small. We soon found a shop nearby that sells the things that we needed. We went into the shop and bought the things and then went to find a place to have a dinner. We found a place, McDonald’s. I was happy and I enjoyed my meal. The price was also cheaper than McDonald’s in Singapore. We ate and rested and enjoyed the surroundings. We also dropped by a grocery that was about to close to buy water again since we bought around 2 liters of carbonated water in Munich.

Living Munich

Travelling period: June 2014, I was 9 years old

The next day, we woke up and ate breakfast at 7am. After that, we bought everything as we were going to Zell Am See. Dad went to fetch the car that we booked from a car rental company while we went to buy some water. We soon arrived at the grocery store. This time, we still bought the wrong type of water! We were ready so we checked out when daddy arrived. I realized that the model he rented was high tech and very cool. We then headed in our rented car towards Zell Am See, a small town in Austria.

Soon, we left the hotel and went to the highway called an Autobahn. The speed limit is 120 kph but there are some areas without speed limit and my Dad’s drove very fast. Our fastest speed was 186 kph. Faster than the speed limit. We drove faster than it because we could drive at any speed. Which was exciting to me. Before entering Austria we stopover in a gasoline station to buy a sticker toll. This is needed to drive in Austria.   After 46 km, we left the autobahn of Germany and entered Austria autobahn. I saw beautiful sceneries and saw the mountains.  It was a very nice thing to see.

After a few kilometers, about 10km, we ate our lunch. We ate at a restaurant facing the beautiful scenery. They had a playground. So, I played there for a while. And, when I tasted the food, it was very nice. My mom also enjoyed it really much. Talking about the décor, it was awesome. I enjoyed my meal there. The design also had a Traditional Austrian look made of wood.

After eating lunch we continued our journey towards Zell Am See. But before we went there, we drove to Krimmler Wasserfälle. Along the way, we saw for the first time beautiful mountains with some of them still have some snow so we stopped to take some pictures. After a while we reached Krimmler Wasserfälle,  a wonderful waterfall. We needed to walk for around 3km  to reach the falls. It was very sunny and I felt amazed on this wonderful sight. Even though droplets of water splashed on me.

Once we were in, we continued our journey and soon we arrived at our Bed And Breakfast hotel called Feriengästehaus Glockenstuhl. The accommodation was nice and the surrounding of the hotel is very peaceful. In our room, we saw the beautiful Alps surrounding this small town. So we checked in and went in our room. It was clean and spacious but a bit old.
